Gypsy- Black Cherries -Gypsy was inspired by the Fleetwood Mac hit recorded for the Mirage album, the song is about reminiscing on the simplicity life can bring on the way to something bigger. Such a beautiful song deserved a decadent, rich scent in the candle it had inspired. Sweet and unmistakeable which felt fitting for this candle.
Half Moon- Merlot Grapes - The album, PEARL was released by Janis Joplin in 1971 and may easily be one of the most moving works of musical art in history based on her bluesy jazz-meets-rock lyrics and melodies, which shifted the way people viewed rock at the time. Inspired - we chose the vibrant scent of merlot grapes to encapsulate something different than the norm. The way Janis did.
Helter Skelter- Smoke, Patchouli, Suede - Helter Skelter is a song composed by The Beatles and written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon - featured on their WHITE Album released in 1968. By far one of the most diverse works of music in it's time, the 30 song album was originally released on two vinyl records. Inspired by this masterpiece, we wanted to create a candle that could animate this song and album, Helter Skelter boasts layers of different warm and cool fragrance tones.
People Are Strange- Oud, Pumpkin, Sugar- People Are Strange holds a warm and familiar energy. Both in fragrance and in the song. Originally recorded for The Doors 1967 album, "Strange Days"- People Are Strange was written by Jim Morrison. The story is that Jim was very depressed so he went to Robby Krieger's house. So the two of them went to a canyon close by to watch the sun set, that's when Jim realized he was depressed because "if you're strange, people are strange." After that thought, Morrison wrote the rest of the lyrics, which are about feeling alienated in what may be one of the most well known Doors songs. We wanted to encapsulate the layers of this profound song with both warm and inviting notes such as pumpkin seeds and cinnamon sugar as well as more cool and somber notes such as oud and smoke.
Time Of The Season- Orange, Vanilla- Time of the Season is the break through song by the British music group, The Zombies which was recorded for their 1968 trippy rock album, Odessey & Oracle. The song is a sharply written ballad about the time for love being right now. We were inspired by this songs sweet + vibrant message, so we created a scent much like the song. Orange and vanilla, creating a whimsical citrus-meets-creamy fragrance.
Voodoo Child-Cedar, Sage, Pear- Voodoo Child was inspired by the psychedelic rock anthem by the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience. When ignited, this candle brings top notes of bright fruity pear as well low notes of bright and fruity as well as low notes of complex cedarwood + earthy sage to life.
Witchy Woman- Leather, Cloves, Almond- A Favorite song from The Eagles inspired this candle. The inspiration for the title and lyrics about a seductive enchantress came from a number of women, but Henley had one particular woman in mind when writing this song. A masterful blend of Leather, Clove and Almond brings a complex aroma with a perfect balance of dark, sweet, and spicy notes that bounce across the room when the wick is lit.
